I am into my 6th year of working for the business and was lucky to join as an Apprentice, growing my skills and knowledge in joinery. I was interested in developing into a Management role and moved into a Site Manager progression position on completion of my apprenticeship.
My Title is Trainee Assistant Site Manager, and I have started a new 4-year apprenticeship, which enrols me into a graduate course at the Robert Gordon University where I will work towards a BA in Construction Management in the Built Environment. I am grateful to have the opportunity to be one of the first people in Scotland to complete this apprenticeship aimed at tackling the shortfall of degreed professionals within the industry.

I have worked for Stewart Milne Group for over 9-years and have held positions in a couple of departments. Learning and Development (L&D) and IT to be exact.
I started my time in the business in the L&D team in Administrator and Coordinator positions. I then decided a move into the IT team would be a great opportunity for me and took on the role of Service Desk Engineer, bringing with me business experience from my earlier position while learning new skills.
The business has given me the freedom to develop new skills and the confidence and opportunity to use them. I also enjoy being in a role that allows me to work with a diversity of people across different locations.
My advice to new starts would be, be prepared to love Microsoft Excel, it's a tool we like to use across the business.
