The 70s

1970
  • 1974 - Stewart procures the businesses first computer
  • 1975 - Stewart Milne Construction Ltd was founded in Aberdeen
  • 1978 - Wellgrove Timber Systems was founded along with Headland Homes
The 80s.

The 80s

1980
  • 1984 - First major housing development launched at Headland Court, Aberdeen – the picture really was one of our adverts at the time
  • 1986 - Stewart Milne Group Ltd was incorporated
  • 1987 - Supplied and erected largest timber frame building in the UK – Stirling Business Centre and supplied the first timber systems to the Falkland Islands
  • 1988 - First acquisition, Earnbank Developments in Perth 
The 90s.

The 90s

1990
  • 1990 - Osprey House (Homes North Scotland’s office) is opened
  • 1991 - Development of a new head office begun at Peregrine House, Westhill
  • 1993 - The first base in Edinburgh opened and Peregrine House was officially opened by HRH Princess Anne
  • 1996 - Second acquisition, Ambion Homes
  • 1998 - Timber Systems supplied kits to Romania to build an orphanage
  • 1999 -  Kestrel House, Tannochside opened (accommodating Homes Central Scotland and Timber Systems staff)
The 00s.

The 00s

2000
  • 2000 - 25th anniversary and first university bursary awards to Robert Gordon, Strathclyde and Herriott Watt universities
  • 2003 - Stewart Milne Timber Systems opened a new £10m automated factory in Witney
  • 2005 - 30th anniversary and major management development program began in conjunction with Cranfield University
  • 2006 - First acquisition in England, Nuttal Construction 
  • 2007 - Third acquisition, A&L King Perth and lauch of Sigma the UK's first carbon neutral home in Watford 
  • 2008 - Union Plaza, one of Aberdeen's most iconic office buildings was completed
The 10s.

The 10s

2010
  • 2011 - David Cameron, Prime Minister visited Stewart Milne Group offices and Stewart Milne Timber Systems factory
  • 2013 - Managing People for Growth management development course is launched
  • 2015 - Bicester Eco Village work completed – The UK’s first eco town
  • 2017 - BIM Library Launched for Offsite Construction - the UK’s first timber frame Building Information Modelling (BIM) library
  • 2019 - AIMCH was launched (a major UK project to transform house building), the Grangemouth hub opened and our Fast Track Modern Apprenticeships were launched
  • 2021 - Stewart Milne Timber Systems is sold to the Donaldson Group
